Target Audience/Overview:
This unique educational program has been developed to bring ASMBS Surgeon Faculty to Asian Pacific as part of a collaborative effort for the treatment of obesity and metabolic disease. Faculty will include world known thought leaders who will offer education based on their experience and expertise. Obesity is a global problem and this collaboration will provide learners with the essential tools and platform for the exchange of knowledge, training and research. It will also provide an overview of surgical procedures as well as sessions on metabolic surgery for the treatment of diabetes. Expect informative panel discussions as well as an opportunity for questions and answers. You won’t want to miss this rare opportunity.

Objectives
Upon completion of this activity participants should be able to:
- Describe the disease of obesity and its comorbid conditions;
- Summarize the short and long term results after bariatric surgery;
- Select appropriate bariatric surgical candidates and recognize contraindications for surgery;
- Describe metabolic surgery as a treatment for diabetes
- Discuss how cultural and economic variables can influence outcomes;
- Explain common peri-operative complications and long-term nutritional consequences.
